Frequently Asked Questions
How does the repair process work?
Simple, just shoot me an email and let me know the make and model of what you have, what symptoms it’s having, and any other repair history if known. We’ll schedule a time to drop it off so I can evaluate it, and then will provide an estimate for the repairs for your approval before they begin. Also, please include if this is an immediate priority or not. I do offer expedited services if needed, but can determine at the time of contact.
Do you have parts/tubes in stock?
Yes, I carry in stock most common components for repairs. In the event that you need something ordered I’ll provide an accurate turn around time for their arrival.
What are your hours?
I’m currently open by appointment only. Contact me to schedule a time for drop off/pickup, as I’m in and out of the shop throughout the week.
What is the turn around time for a repair?
For most repairs, I usually have them completed within 1-2 weeks maximum. I will also provide a detailed turn around time when issuing the estimate. Of course, there are exceptions depending on component availability and shipping, but typically isn’t that long.
I’m worried about having my vintage/prized gear repaired….
I understand this concern entirely as I’ve heard horror stories from customers bringing their prized vintage gear to other repair shops. From “I’m not sure what they did to it”, to, “It’s never been the same since.” Rest assured, I do everything possible to maintain the original tone and character of the amp that you’re used to. Every repair throughly gets play tested and evaluated before sending back out.
What is the process for modification of my amp?
Shoot me an email with what you have, and specifically what you would like to change about it. Unfortunately, online forum talk over-hypes some very popular “mods”. That’s why I ask that you provide me with what you do and don’t like about it before hand to see what the best option is for you. I’ve modified most name brand production amps, (Peavey, Marshall, Fender, etc.), and am very familiar with the fixes needed to get your desired tone. Once we figure out exactly what you need from it and perform the mods, at the time of pickup we will play test and evaluate together to ensure it’s what you were looking for. If required, some further tweaks can be made at that time to get it back to you without a return trip.
